Dr. Bennett Wilson

Dr. Wilson was raised by alpacas in Colorado before moving to MA and is very happy to be practicing in Portland and raising his family in Maine.He has two Springer Spaniels; Copper & Ceili and a cat named Fireball.

In his free time, Dr. Wilson loves to travel, spend time with his family, fly fish, and snowboard. His favorite movie is Sharknado

Dr. Alex Munroe

Originally from Framingham, MA, Dr. Munroe moved to Maine in 2001.

He lives with his wife, young son, a flock of chickens. In his free time he loves to motorcycle, draw, find any excuse to travel to Canada, and is an avid audiophile who loves vocal music.

Dr. Leah Goodman

Dr. Leah Goodman is originally from Bangor. She began her veterinary career in Boston and has been practicing in the Portland area for the past 12 years. She lives in S. Portland with her husband, 3 boys, 2 cats; Indiana Jones & Rajan and dog, Lily.

Kacie Heggeman LVT

Kacie joined our hospital in May of 2010 and has several years experience as a licensed technician. A graduate from the University of Maine at Orono, she holds a B.S. in Biology.

Kacie has a large four legged family that consists of Whizzer, a 28 yr Quarter Horse, Frankie a King Charles, Cats; Remi & Anna, and a flock of beloved chickens.

When Kacie isn't at work or hanging out with her furry friends, she enjoys being a new home owner, reading, and spending time with her friends and family.
Fun Facts
Her favorite TV show is Duck Dynasty and she is a recovering WOW gamer.

Her favorite food is anything with carbohydrates and cheese.

Denise Hodgkins

Denise is one of our technicians and has over ten years of experience working with a variety of animals in a clinical setting.

When not at the clinic she enjoys small family farming, tending to her flock of chickens & hiking with her belgian malinois, Havoc & Mongo.

Denise's enjoys gardening, stamp collecting, beekeeping and raising carnivorous plants

Mark McCracken

Mark joined FAVH in 2009, and does a little bit of everything from reception, tech appointments to taking care of the boarding animals and managing building maintainance.
When he is not working at Forest Avenue Vet, he takes pleasure in restoring old furniture, spending time with his grandchildren, hiking with his Gordon Setter; Hamish, bee keeping and rooting for the Red Sox and Steelers

Mark is an avid reader of historal fiction and mysteries, and loves vintage rock and roll. He favorite TV shows are Masterpiece Mystery & Masterpiece Classics.

Kathy Chadbourne

Kathy has been greeting our clients, at our front desk, since 1997. Her knowledge and williness to help allows Kathy to assist the needs of our clients and their pets.

She lives in Portland with her husband and son. They share their home with Ginny, a gunea pig and Harry a pomeranian. Both were adopted from The Animal Refuge League.

When not at work Kathy enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves being outdoors, especially gardening, hiking, and fishing. Kathy likes to be part of our community. She has volunteered at the Youth Shelter where she met wonderful children. She now volunteers weekly in the library where her son attends school.
Fun Facts
At home Kathy is the DIY girl and loves decorating. She is a avid animal tracker and drives her husband & son crazy trying to figure out animal tracks on hikes. Her favorite food is spinach-feta pizza.

Patty Beatte

After working many years in the insurance field, Patty realized the animal world is where she wanted to be. She began an eight year stint at the Animal Refuge League by volunteering with cats, than was hired as a member of the kennel staff. She shares her home with her husband, three daughters, three dogs, a cat, and an array of colorful chickens.

Patty's favorite movie is West side Story and her favorite book is "The Stand"

Chompski Macgruber (aka: Chompy, Choo-Choo)

Hi! My name is Chompski MacGruber. I was origanlly called Einstein by the Animal Refuge League becuase I was found in a trap with no food/bait. I've been at FAVH since spring of 2011 when I was adopted by Dr. Wilson and the gang. My duties include lying in the sun, sticking my paws under exam room doors, and ocassionally catching mice. During office hours I can usually be found in the lobby or reception area playing, napping, or maintaining impeccable personal hygiene. Honestly I can't imagine how they got by without me.

He is a terrible mouser and is very bossy with dogs.

Teri Robinson

Teri has been part of the FAVH family for many years now and works at the front desk! She has three awesome dogs, a corgi named Brees, and two Belgian Malinois's Zuzu and Lumi.

Teri enjoys interpretive dance and she is an accomplished juggler.

Sonia Whittier

Sonia is our newest staff member and lives in Portland with her daughter Della Rae. Sonia's interests include, leaving metal smiting, making jewelry, reading, film making, writing, Native American Issues, and being outdoors!

Bekah Thornton

Bekah is a technician here at FAVH and often her smiling face can be seen at the front desk! She has two dogs Kona and Rocco and two cats Woof and Tiny. She also loves bird watching with her husband!

Bekah enjoys camping and hiking. She also is an avid kite flyer.

Emily DeLorenzo

Emily moved from Danvers, MA to Portland, ME in 2014. She has two
dogs and two cats, all adopted from local Maine rescues! She also has a constant steam of foster kittens living in her bathroom. In her
spare time she enjoys traveling with her husband, hiking with her
dogs, and eating at Gelato Fiasco!!
